Madrid, March 2, 2026 — Amper, through its engineering subsidiary Proes-OSL Iberia, has reached a technological milestone in the Spanish Navy’s S-80 submarine program with the successful delivery of the contracted catalytic reactors for carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen (H₂).

The system, intended for the S-83 “Cosme García” and S-84 “Mateo García de los Reyes” units, forms part of the atmosphere revitalization system, a key element in increasing the submerged endurance of these submarines. It has received official certification from Navantia, along with recognition for the work carried out on this project, which began in 2022.

The reactors developed by Amper play a role in maintaining the submarine’s atmosphere. Their catalytic combustion technology enables the controlled removal of CO and H₂ in the AIP (Air Independent Propulsion) compartment, ensuring breathable air purification.

The project has covered design engineering, structural calculations and mechanical validation of the equipment, specialized manufacturing under NATO quality standards (AQAP), catalyst supply, and the execution of technical tests and functional verifications, consolidating a technological solution fully integrated into the industrial ecosystem of the program.

This activity is part of Amper’s overall contribution to the S-80 program, considered one of the most demanding technological developments in Spanish naval engineering.
