The project will enable real-time monitoring of supply networks, early detection of leaks and anomalies, and improvements in water quality through predictive analytics, reinforcing Amper’s commitment to sustainability and the digitalization of critical infrastructures.
Madrid, March 9, 2026 – Amper has obtained funding from the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) for its R&D project “HYDROSMART”, an initiative focused on the sustainable and intelligent management of water infrastructures through advanced sensing technologies, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT).
The project, which began on May 1, 2025 and will run until February 28, 2027, aims to research and develop an intelligent cyber-physical system (CPS) capable of optimizing water resource management, improving the operational efficiency of distribution networks and providing real-time information on the status and quality of water.
HYDROSMART integrates ultrasonic technology and advanced sensors, including optical, acoustic and pressure sensors, which together with local data processing capabilities (“edge computing”) make it possible to collect and analyze key information directly at the measurement point. This data is subsequently sent to a centralized management platform, where it is used to continuously train predictive artificial intelligence models.
Thanks to this approach, the system will enable the early detection of leaks, structural anomalies or deterioration in supply quality, as well as the anticipation of critical events in water networks, contributing to more efficient, resilient and sustainable water management. In addition, the solution is designed to offer high energy efficiency, with operational autonomy exceeding ten years, reducing operating and maintenance costs.
With HYDROSMART, the Amper Group strengthens its commitment to technological innovation applied to sustainability, aligning with current challenges arising from climate change, water scarcity and the need to modernize critical infrastructures. The project will also help position the company as an international benchmark in advanced smart water management solutions, promoting the digitalization of the sector and the optimization of the entire water cycle.
This initiative forms part of the Amper Group’s R&D&I strategy and reflects its commitment to developing high value-added critical technologies capable of generating positive economic, environmental and social impact.
