This is a pioneering solution in Europe for the hybrid energy supply of an industrial recycling centre.

Madrid, 28 November 2025. A Spanish industrial technology consortium created on 18 November, comprising Amper, Yainfe Recycling, Zener Comunicaciones and Master Battery, will carry out the project known as ‘Huella Cero Yainfe’, in accordance with European Union regulations on CO2 emissions reduction and energy resilience.

This strategic initiative seeks to transform the Yainfe recycling plant (Torrejón de Velasco, Madrid), which operates 24/7, into an energy self-sufficient, zero-carbon emissions facility, setting a precedent in the decarbonisation of European heavy industry.

In line with the objectives of the NextGenerationEU programme and the Green Transition, the project proposes the creation of a hybrid industrial energy system operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (24/7), combining the following cutting-edge technologies for the first time in an industrial environment of this type:

Solar Energy: a 2 MWp photovoltaic (PV) plant.
Battery Energy Storage System (BESS): an advanced BESS battery system with 10MW of power and 20MWh of storage.
Circular Economy: an industrial gasifier that will use 5,000 tonnes of plastic waste per year to generate biofuel.
Smart Control: an advanced energy management system (MASTER/EMS/SCADA) that will enable digital 5.0 management of the entire plant.

Environmental Impact and Viability

The project will generate a significant environmental benefit, with an estimated reduction of between 1,200 and 1,500 tonnes of CO2 per year, while providing a pioneering solution for the energy recovery of waste derived from fossil fuels.

‘Huella Cero Yainfe’ is a high-impact industrial technology project that stands out not only for its innovation, but also for its robust viability.
The initiative reduces dependence on the electricity grid and positions Yainfe Recycling as a pioneer in Europe in hybrid energy solutions for the recycling sector.

Distribution of projected areas of activity

  • Amper: with its extensive experience in this type of solution, it will take on overall coordination, the development of the advanced management system (MASTER/EMS/SCADA) and 5.0 digitalisation, as well as the supply of BESS technology and its associated engineering. It will also be responsible for the energy backup system.
  • Zener Comunicaciones: will be responsible for the engineering and installation of the PV plant, as well as the installation of the BESS system and the energy backup system.
  • Master Battery: will manufacture the BESS technology and provide specialised technical support and system warranty.
  • Yainfe Recycling: is the owner of the facilities and will be responsible for plant operation, the gasification process and industrial project management.

The project will be a hybrid model that can be replicated in other energy-intensive and waste-generating industrial sectors, such as chemicals, food and metallurgy.

With this project, Yainfe Recycling is demonstrating its commitment to the environment and the EU’s policies to combat climate change, investing almost €13 million in this first phase of the project.

For its part, by participating in this initiative, Amper continues to consolidate its position as a key technology partner in energy management and storage projects, providing innovative solutions that boost the competitiveness and sustainability of its customers.
