Madrid, September 30, 2026 – A WindWaves, the Grupo Amper company specializing in the engineering and manufacturing of large naval and offshore wind structures, has been awarded by Navantia a contract under the Special Modernization Programme (PEM) for the construction of a new Combat Supply Ship (BAC) for the Spanish Navy.
The award covers the manufacture of the aft superstructure, considered the most structurally significant section of the programme and incorporating some of the ship’s most complex areas, including the command bridge and other critical spaces for the operation of the platform.
The scope of the contract covers all major structural manufacturing phases, from the construction of flat and curved panels, off-line fabricated units and open units, to the manufacture of sub-blocks and complete blocks, as well as the structural and mechanical steelwork associated with the pre-outfitting phase. It also includes the manufacture of construction beds, auxiliary structures and steel preparation processes in accordance with the programme’s technical requirements.
The execution of the project will involve an estimated workload of approximately 237,000 hours, to be carried out between September 2026 and August 2027. It will mobilize WindWaves’ industrial capacity for the manufacture of highly complex naval structures intended for one of the main shipbuilding programmes currently underway for the Spanish Navy.
With this award, Amper continues to strengthen its position as a supplier of high value-added structures and technologies for the Special Modernization Programmes (PEM) of the Spanish Ministry of Defence.
Participation in this PEM, through this contract with Navantia and the contracts previously awarded for the ship’s electrical systems, confirms Grupo Amper’s ability to provide advanced solutions, contributing to the strengthening of Spain’s defence technological and industrial base and consolidating its capabilities in the field of military shipbuilding.
