- This investment complements Amper’s own investments to maximize WindWaves’ industrial and technological development, strengthening Spain’s industrial position in offshore wind, a key capability for Europe’s energy independence.
Madrid, July 29, 2026 – Amper and COFIDES, the Spanish state-owned company attached to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business, have signed an agreement under which COFIDES, through the Foreign Investment Fund (FIEX), will invest €20 million in WindWaves, the Group’s subsidiary dedicated to the offshore wind sector, through a cash capital increase, acquiring a 30% equity stake in the company.
This investment will complement those already made by Amper and, together, will provide the initial financing for:
- The construction of new facilities at the Outer Port of A Coruña, with the capacity to undertake offshore wind projects involving both fixed-bottom and floating structures. These facilities will serve international markets, further strengthening the company’s export capabilities.
- The implementation of a digitalization program for operations as part of the industrial deployment.
- The adaptation of the As Somozas facilities to support the operations of the new facilities in A Coruña.
- The industrial-scale validation of manufacturing processes and the preparation for the serial production of Rigid Sails for wind-assisted propulsion, contributing to the decarbonization of maritime transport.
Amper’s Chief Executive Officer, Enrique López, stated: “COFIDES’ investment in WindWaves will maximize the investments that will strengthen the Amper Group’s leadership in both fixed-bottom and floating offshore wind structures, thereby contributing to Europe’s energy independence and strategic autonomy.”
COFIDES’ Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer, Ángela Pérez, highlighted: “Through this transaction, COFIDES supports Amper’s growth through WindWaves, a company that combines technological innovation with a clear international outlook. FIEX resources will contribute to expanding Spain’s productive capacity to meet international demand in a strategic sector such as offshore wind, while also advancing Europe’s energy transition objectives.”
